National Healthcare Group was established to bring affordable and reliable private primary healthcare services to low-income employer groups. Since its inception in 2017, the group has introduced a series of ground-breaking primary healthcare solutions, entrenching itself as the provider of choice in the low-cost and emerging segments of the healthcare market.

Providing the right care at the right time, National Healthcare Group has a telehealth WhatsApp line with qualified clinicians assessing and treating members, providing over-the-counter medication and acute scripts, as well as referring to network GP’s when clinically indicated.

National Healthcare Group has an extensive network of more than 2000+ GP’s, well situated throughout South Africa, as well as dental and optometry providers. National Healthcare Group has consistently grown lives under management within the group to more than 23,000 beneficiaries by providing administration and managed care services for our clients.

Founded in 2017 by Dr Reinder Nauta and Dr Mandla Moyo, National Healthcare Group was created to make quality private healthcare more accessible and affordable for South Africa’s working population.

Together, the Executive Team combines healthcare expertise, commercial and governance experience, and hands-on business building to expand access to reliable, affordable private healthcare.

Dr Reinder Nauta, Co-founder and Executive Chairman, is a medical doctor and healthcare entrepreneur with deep experience in primary healthcare, managed care and provider networks. He founded CareCross Health and has held senior leadership roles across the South African healthcare sector.

Co-founder and Channel Partner Executive

Dr Mandla Moyo, CA(SA), DBA, Co-founder and Channel Partner Executive, brings more than 30 years of experience in finance, governance and healthcare leadership. A former EY Partner and former Group CEO of the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, he leads NHG’s strategic partnerships and key commercial relationships.

Adriaan Odendaal, Pr. Eng., MBA, Chief Executive Officer, joined NHG in early 2026. An industrial engineer, entrepreneur and business executive, he has built and scaled businesses across South Africa and the UK, with experience spanning investment, technology, healthcare and large-scale NHS England transformation programmes.

Our shareholders

National Healthcare Group’s shareholders include ARC Health (Pty) Ltd, a private investment company, majority-owned by African Rainbow Capital and managed by African Rainbow Capital Health Managers, and InVenFin, the venture capital arm of Remgro Limited.

Other shareholders include Growth Grid Venture Capital Partners and several seasoned business leaders who have led organisations such as CareCross Health, Dimension Data, Imperial, Futuregrowth and Ernst & Young.
